Summer School
The Summer School, organised by the Eurasian Society of Educational Research (E-SER) will take place from 20th until 24th June 2022 and provides an opportunity for PhD students engaged in educational science research to learn from experts and their peers. Students will participate in workshops led by experts, centered around aspects of research in educational science.
- Introduction: What makes educational research so special?
- Journals, reference papers, ontology, epistemology, research groups in Europe.
- Quantitative Research Methods Data collection
- Data collection (surveys, experiments, etc) and data analysis (statistical analysis, quantifying subjective data, common flaws, etc.)
- Qualitative Research Methods
- Data collection (interviews, focus groups, think aloud etc.) and interpretative analysis of the data within different research methodologies (Grounded Theory, Phenomenology, Phenomenography, Case study, etc.)
- Mixed Methods
- An emergent methodology of research that advances the systematic integration of quantitative and qualitative data within a single investigation.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with the educational science community and to present their current research and receive feedback from other students and experts.

FORMAT
All sessions have a highly interactive format, facilitating exchange of ideas and opinions in general or in the context of the participants’ research and projects. Participants will be required to prepare work before the summer school and to engage in exercises each day to prepare for in-depth discussion of specific topics.
WHO CAN ATTEND
This summer school is open to all PhD students doing research in the educational science. They are invited to apply via our e-mail. Deadline for registration is extended to 15 May 2022, taking into account that it’s possible that the registration module will be closed earlier when the maximum number of participants is reached (first come, first served).
The number of participants is limited and therefore applications will be assessed using the following criteria:
1. Quality of the motivation letter and CV
2. Preference for PhD students in the earlier years of their research
3. Diversity in nationality and gender
The motivation letter and CV should be concise but contain at least the following elements:
- CV
- Name
- Title of PhD Project
- Organisation (University, research group etc., country)
- Supervisor(s) name(s)
- Description of research design (research questions, objectives, methodology, methods, etc.)
- For researchers in the early stages, this may be their research proposal
- Limited to one page
- Motivation Letter
- Why participating in the Summer School will help you develop as an education researcher
- Limited to one page
REGISTRATION FEE
- USD 950 (double occupation room) or USD 1200 (single occupation room)
- This fee includes:
- Full summer school participation
- Accomodation during 4 nights (double or single occupation)
- All meals (breakfasts, lunches, dinners and coffee breaks)
- An accompanying adult is welcome in a double occupation room in the hotel. The price for one night (with breakfast) is 72,5 EUR for the accompanying adult.
